The Mental Health Association of Alameda County is pleased to announce its first virtual conference – Breaking Barriers: Resilience, Mental Health, and Hope. Our theme is one of hope for the future. Breaking Barriers will feature a moderated conversation as well as a Q&A session with Brandon Marshall. As the Executive Chairman and Co-Founder of PROJECT 375, Brandon is passionately dedicated to his work in the mental health community. PROJECT 375 is a national non-profit dedicated to unlocking human potential through conversation, education, and inspiration. Brandon believes strongly that football is his platform and his work in the mental health community is his purpose in life. With suicide being the second leading cause of death in youth ages 10-24, he is dedicated to ensuring youth across the nation receive prevention and early intervention services. Aligning with this mission, Brandon will host The Toughest Opponent, a show that addresses mental health in sports. Aside from his work with the foundation, Brandon is an active participant in other mental health organizations such as Child Mind Institute as an ambassador for the Healthy Brain Network. Brandon advocates for the NFL Life Line and McLean Hospital. He has also been a participant in the Senate Finance Committee in Washington, D.C., testifying about mental health issues in our health care system. Marshall also co-hosts First Things First on Fox Sports 1, sharing opinions on each day’s top sports stories and co-hosts the I AM ATHLETE podcast, discussing many topics from sports to fashion, lifestyle, and more.

In addition to the session with Mr. Marshall, Breaking Barriers will include sessions on Hip Hop Therapy, the American Psychological Association Apology, Mental Health Diagnosis Across the Family, Connection and Joy After Trauma and a panel discussion featuring providers from across the Western United States on emerging practices in mental health crisis calls.
